Pučišća, Island of Brač - the Sculpting Academy, July 19th to 28th, 2010
FOLK COSTUME WORKSHOP - "THE CROATIAN ETHNO TREASURY"

Would you like to learn how to manufacture Croatian folk garb?
We invite you to participate at the seventh annual Croatian national costume manufacturing workshop entitled The Croatian Ethno Treasury.
This useful program is meant for all those interested in Croatian folk costume, their manufacture, maintenance and use in folklore ensembles, and for those who would like themselves to make folk costumes or simply
enjoy in handcrafts and want to expand their knowledge.

The programme was conceived by Josip Forjan, the creator of the programme and the director of the Folk Costume Workshop and Rental Department in Zagreb. He will be joined in the instruction by a group of capable assistants and demonstrators from the field, specialised in various thematic areas.
This year's folk costume workshop again offers two lecture groups: for beginners and advanced attendants. The work of both groups will be held in parallel at the premises of the Sculpting Academy. Only those attendees that have already participated in this workshop and gained the basic set of skills may participate in the work of the advanced group.
Weaving, tailoring, sewing, all kinds of embroidery, applications and decoration, reconstruction, the maintenance of national costumes and the manufacture of individual national costumes will be taught. There are also plans for special content: the manufacture of Pag island and Lepoglav lace, gold embroidery and instruction in the necanje (crochet pattern) technique. The workshop will close with an Open Day exhibition of the works produced by all those attending, open to the locals of Pučišća and tourists who will have an opportunity to see the diversity and wealth of Croatian folk handicrafts.

Event period: July 19th to 28th, 2010
Accommodation: The Sculpting Academy, Pučišća, island of Brač. The price of full board per person per day is HRK 210 or €29 plus residence tax.
 
Tuition: €80 per person

Application forms may be submitted for this workshop by the deadline of June 15th, 2010.
