CHF Winter School of Folklore Wraps up with Closing Concert

On hand to express their full support of the school and its participants were Croatian Heritage Foundation director Mijo Marić and deputy director Ivan Tepeš.

Koprivnica's Domoljub Hall was the venue on the 12th of January for the closing concert of the CHF Winter School of Folklore. The Croatian Heritage Foundation is the driving force behind the Winter School, staged this year in the northern Croatian town of Koprivnica from the 3rd to 12th of January. 120 dancers, singers and players of traditional instruments from the country and abroad took part in the school this year. The closing concert event at the packed Domoljub Hall was an opportunity to show off what had been learned in the programme.
Present at the closing concert were Koprivnica-Križevci deputy prefect Ratimir Ljubić, mayor Mišel Jakšić, deputy mayor Ksenija Ostriž and city council president Ivan Pal on behalf of the City of Koprivnica. Also on hand to express their full support of the school and its participants were Croatian Heritage Foundation director Mijo Marić and deputy director Ivan Tepeš.
This year's winter session of the School of Folklore and the closing concert covered a programme of dance, original folk melodies, folk costumes and the instruments of the Alpine region (following the terminology proposed by I. Ivančan), which includes Croatia's northwest region and its Istrian peninsula region. The entire programme was led by professor Andrija Ivančan, the School's head of programme and the art director of Zagreb's celebrated Lado folk dance and singing ensemble.
